Park Home Garden of the Year 2025: Meet Our Blooming Brilliant Winner!

Meet David Perkins, Park Home Garden of the Year 2025 Winner

This year’s crop of entries had some fantastic displays of park home gardening, but the expert judging panel has made its decision. The winner of the Park Home Garden of the Year 2025, hosted by Park Home & Holiday Living magazine and sponsored by Quickmove Properties is David Perkins at Seal Bay Resort in West Sussex!

A garden that stops people in their tracks

Seal Bay enjoys a mild, coastal climate that’s kinder to plants than many parts of the country, and David has made the most of it. His garden is so eye-catching that passers-by regularly stop to admire it. In fact, it was spotted entirely by chance by a Park Home & Holiday Living magazine writer, Bella Brodie, who found herself pausing mid-walk and watching several other people do the same thing.

From fresh start to flourishing haven

David bought his holiday home eight years ago, following the loss of his wife. What began as a simple plot has gradually evolved into a deeply personal and beautifully layered garden.

“At the centre, I created a heart-shaped water feature as a memorial,” David explains. “It gives me a place to sit and remember. I’m really glad I decided to do it.”

From there, beds were added over time, along with a half-moon planting area, a trellissed seating spot, pots to the front, hanging baskets, a bird table and thoughtful planting around existing trees. Creating a space where every corner offers something new to enjoy.

“It’s designed so there’s always something different to look at,” David says. “Creating the garden has been good for my mental health. It’s been a labour of love and a bit of a haven.”

Small plot, big impact

What impressed the judges most was how cleverly David used the space. Despite the plot’s quirky shape and larger than average size, it feels like a series of garden ‘rooms’, complete with different seating areas that follow the sun throughout the day. Clever planting creates height, texture and colour, and everything looks impeccably cared for.

Bella sums it up perfectly: “Every inch had been maximised. The plants were in their prime, the colours were incredible, and there was always another little surprise as you explored.”

Judges’ verdict

David’s garden proves that park plots, whatever their size, can bring huge pleasure.

We loved the immaculate presentation and the touching story behind the memorial feature.

Beautiful gardens are wonderful conversation starters and can be a real antidote to loneliness. David’s garden shows just how much joy a well-loved plot can bring.

A proud park moment

David received his trophy and £100 in John Lewis vouchers from Seal Bay’s Head of Owners’ Services, Karen Payne, who said: “We’re incredibly proud of David. His garden is a credit to the park.”

Highly commended
